Hi, Would it be possible
to get SSL / SecureIRC
support sometime in the
future? Thx, GeekBrat |

Sorry, I just noticed
this is on your NOT-to-do
list, so I guess I'll
keep looking. Since the
wmiRC people aren't
responding to my support
requests. :( Thx for the app tho, it's nice to see people actively upkeeping pet projects. -Geekbrat |

I would love to implement SSL as soon as someone gives me an SSL library that compiles with eVC4 with as little effort as possible. |

Ok, here's a funny
question for you all. There are many types of SSL connections - which one is the most often used? |

Take a look into gnutls
also. Nice lib and easy
to use, reasonable code.
Better than openssl IMO.
Hit me up on MSN sometime
and I'll point you to
some use of it in code
:-) (robby, in case you forgot me) |

my question was more about supporting either implicit or explicit ssl - ssl itself is supported by winsock too afaik. |

I would recommend explicit if it's going to be an option to toggle. Implicit assumes SSL is already on, explicit requests to turn on SSL. |

Oh, also, I believe with
explicit SSL the port to
be used is determined at
time of establishing the
connection. Perhaps that
would be good for servers
that use unconventional
ports for their encrypted
communication.
Establishing the
connection with explicit
takes slightly longer
than implicit, but with
IRC you only have to do
it once, so big whoop. Btw, any chance to get your app working on smartphone? :) No love on the Blackjack over here. |

Implicit would work best
for my needs, as I
connect to several
different IRC
networks/servers that use
SSL on different ports,
most of which are not
standard. Also sometimes
I need to use weird ports
to get around firewall
when using WiFi. =GeekBrat |

I would love to see ssl added. Add an option for implict or explicit, that will keep everyone happy. keep up the good work :) |

I would also make use of
this feature. I'm happy
to have found a good wm
IRC client, but I also
need to connect to an
explicit ssl irc port. Thanks! |
